Some have said their more for show than actual performance increase but I doubt it will help if they're not being used. I'd also make sure you're using all 3 of those power connectors for that card. If you've got all those things in order it's usually safe to say it's them(the game) and not you or your card.

Occasionally a borked driver from NV will skew things too. Fast mobo, cpu, ram, drive(s) and keep the OS clean and lean during game play. Best things a user can do is have a clean, fast system. There's a plethora of things that can cause it though. Some games are designed better than others for these kind of issues. I've gotten used to keeping an eye on both CPU, Vram, and drive activity during these moments and nearly always there's significant activity when it happens. I believe it's likely something being buffered into Vram. I've seen this happen with all my setups from time to time which spans from SLI to non-SLI to RTX and non-RTX cards. If a gamer came and sat down, they would most likely be more impressed with the bigger monitor from the sheer size and not notice any difference at all RE: IQ/PQ from their eyeballs.īTW: Jasonx82 I had blinking issues on display port and fixed it by replacing the cheapo cable that came with the monitor. Since Div 2 doesn't have any RTX or other fancy features, it basically came down to frame rate and as can be expected the 2080ti was faster - anywhere from 10 to 30 frames - BUT in both cases they were pushing high tens-low 100 frames and with variable sync on each respective platform, both performed smoothly without any stutter at all.

It replaced my former test setup which was a RADEON VII and a Monoprice MP 49" ultrawide HDR (3840x1080=4,147,200 pixels) free sync. So I got a sweet deal on a Zotac Amp Extreme 2080ti (free!) and have been test running it for a few days with my Alienware AW 3418DW no HDR (3440x1440 = 4,953,600 pixels) G sync on Division 2 (the only game I'm playing right now). This is the first time I haven't run SLI or AMD Crossfire in a very long time. This is something I've dealt with for probably more than a decade or so if not always. Application switching is also extremely slow on SLI systems. Other notes, with HDR enabled, tabbing out of a game would leave HDR enabled on the desktop making it useless. Technically, the dual 1080Ti's have a higher potential frame rate, but these days the likely hood of achieving that seems less and less all the time. I still need to try other titles but I suspect that will be the theme based on the research I have done on these things. Its definitely more consistent about frame rates and the minimums are higher.
I played some Destiny 2 for an hour and a half or so on it and that's all I've done so far. I've always had reference boards and the few times I haven't, I've gone EVGA. That was the principle reason for going GIGABYTE this time. So far I have been impressed with the build quality, appearance and the RGB LED lighting is compatible with my motherboard. I don't ordinarily go with non-reference designs, but I wanted a better cooler and a solid factory overclock. It's been rocky, but we're really starting to see the foundations of what the technology can actually be used to do to improve real-time graphics for gaming and otherwise.

While the very top end is slowly grinding forward with VR and 4k120+, most are reasonably satisfied at 1080p or 1440p and these can be driven increasingly with more accessible GPUs, most especially if AAA- / settings-maxed gaming isn't a requirement.Īnd with the 2000-series with RTX, I also think Nvidia really nailed the right time to push ray-tracing hardware into the consumer space. I agree with this and have elsewhere mentioned that we're at a bit of transition stage where consumer displays have plateaued a bit.
